Both public opinion and scientific polling have a major effect on elections and policy debates. Most debates are geared towards people,obviously. Candidates participating in debates are often swayed by the public opinion and how it will affect their approval ratings. Scientific polling also has a major effect on elections and policy debates. Scientific point is one of the ways that candidates find out the publics opinion.

American globalization has led to more countries becoming democratic. It is also lead to better security, a more competitive global economy, and a more equal spread of wealth.There are some negatives to American globalization.For one, American social, cultural, and political values have made some enemies such as Iran. American globalization has also lead to the progression of global warming and has used a lot of the planets natural resources.

Political culture is a major influence on public policy. This is why public policies are shaped around the public’s opinion.
LO 3.C.1: Compare how political ideologies vary on the role of government in regulating the marketplace.
There are differing views on if the government should regulate the economy. Republicans believe that there should be very limited government intervention. This is why republicans tend to be large business owners and tend to want tax cuts and fewer regulations. Democrats tend to want more government intervention and more regulations on big businesses.
LO 3.C.2: Compare how political ideologies vary with regard to the role of government in addressing social issues.
Both republicans and democrats have differing opinions on social issues. For example,
democrats tend to be pro-choice, support gay marriage, and support universal health care. Republicans tend to be pro-life, not support gay marriage, and believe that private companies can provide better health care than universal health care.
LO 4.D.1: Summarize the voting rights protections in the Constitution and in legislation.
in the constitution there are rights for every voter. The 14th amendment gives citizenship rights and equal protection of laws. The 15th amendment prohibits state and federal governments from denying a citizen the right to vote based on the race, color, or previous condition of servitude.The voters right act of 1965 prevents any discrimination and enforces both the 14th and 15th amendments.
LO 4.D.2: Analyze the roles that individual choice and state laws play in voter turnout in elections. Ones individual choice on whether to vote or not has a major effect on voter turnout.State laws also play a major role in voter turnout. Most states have legislation that makes it easier to vote such as the using ones ID as a means to register to vote.
LO 4.D.3: Analyze U.S. voter turnout and compare it with that in other democracies.
The U.S. voter turnout is far lower than other democratic countries. This is partly because of americans mistrust of the current government. Many voters also cannot make it to the polls due to bad weather or living in a very rural area. many countries have national holidays to encourage voting. The U.S. does not have a voting national holiday and this could be why our voting turnout is so low. Also many younger voters have a lower political efficacy and have the lowest turnout of all americans
LO 4.D.4: Explain the factors that influence voter choices
There are many factors that influence a voter’s choices. these include the voter’s age, education level, occupation,and religion. for example if a voter was between the age of 18-24 they would be less likely to vote as opposed to the other age groups.

There are four different of voting behaviors which are based on the type of election. Voters tend to vote based on their political beliefs Presidential elections. in local elections people tend to pick candidates that will contribute more to their area. Referendums follow a different type of logic because people are specifically asked to vote for a clearly defined policy.
